Not Your Grandma's Brownies (Unless Your Grandma is Snoop Dogg)

by Anonymous

Ingredients

  • 1/8 of You Know
  • 1 tbsp sunflower lecithin (optional, but will make the final product stronger)
  • 1 cup coconut oil (you can use vegetable, peanut, or canola oil - but do not add water to the mixture if you’re not using coconut oil. Don't use olive oil.)
  • Brownie mix and ingredients

You will need

  • Candy thermometer
  • Cheesecloth

Instructions

  1. Line a small pan with tin foil.
  2. Spread 1/8 of You Know evenly across the bottom.
  3. Bake at 240 for an hour.
  4. Fill a double boiler with water, or make a double boiler by putting a small pot in a larger pot filled with water.
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of sunflower lecithin to 1 cup of coconut oil. (Or add 2/3 tablespoon of sunflower lecithin to 2/3 cup of coconut oil. You get the idea.)
  6. Add You Know. (For a less strong taste, add 1 cup of water.)
  7. Keep a little under 200 degrees for 5 hours.
  8. Let the oil sit until cool room temp, just so you don’t burn yourself.
  9. Line a strainer with cheesecloth and strain the mixture. Throw away the You Know and the cheesecloth. (If you added water, you will need to let your mixture sit in the fridge until the oil separates from the water. Then toss out the water.)
  10. Substitute the coconut oil for the oil in your brownie recipe.
  11. Bake at 275 degrees until your brownies are done (more than 30 minutes).
